Dr Laura Fenlon
ROLE
Neuroscientist
Research/Job Area
Laura's key research areas are understanding how the brain is able to change to make new connectivity pathways when traditional ones are disrupted, as well as understanding how these connectivity routes evolved during mammalian evolution.
Message for the Public
Human experiences are predominantly multi-sensorial, that is, our brain is exquisitely interconnected so that our visual, auditory, olfactory (smell), tactile and taste sensations combine into a single experience. Therefore experiencing food is about so much more than just taste!
Favourite Food
My favourite thing is actually variety, so Iām naturally drawn towards meals that intrinsically involve lots of different dishes served together all at once, such as Brazilian feijoada, Japanese bento box or Malaysian nasi lemak.
